Lithium battery Korea KC certification dynamic

The latest information

As is known to all, the national institute of technology and standards of Korea issued revision notices on safety standards of electrical appliances in September 2018 and February 2019, namely implementing the so-called new KC certification standard -- kc62133:2018.The publication of this new version of the standard once attracted the attention and consultation of battery manufacturers at home and abroad.

However, Korean domestic certification bodies and government authorities have not reached an executable opinion on the specific implementation of the new version of the standard, the certification bodies have not used the new version of the standard to issue a certificate.In view of this certification trend, our company always pays close attention to the information release of the three certification bodies of KTR, KTC and KTL, and confirms relevant matters with the competent officials in time.

After several months, the new battery standard in South Korea has finally received the detailed implementation instructions. The new standard has also moved from the familiar kc62133:2018 to kc62133:2019. The relevant information is as follows:

The new standard is: kc62133:2019, kc62133-2:20, 19.As the KC law of energy storage battery ESS is urgently needed to be implemented, the implementation of kc62133-2:2019 is postponed. Accordingly, the 2017 CB certificate is still not accepted when applying for KC transfer certificate.

KC62133:2019 standard will be implemented from September 6 this year

2.1 for ordinary batteries except lithium batteries for mobile phones, tablets and laptops, the requirements of kc62133:2019 are the same as those of kc62133:2015, and the standard of kc62133:2015 is completely corresponding to the standard of iec62133:2012.

2.2 lithium battery requirements for mobile phones, tablets and laptops are different from kc62133:2015.Compared with kc62133:2015, the new kc62133:2019 standard has added three test requirements:

-- 2 test items [for vibration and mechanical impact of battery packs]

Refer to the sixth edition of UN38.3 (test report), which requires the same content as kc62133:2019;

-- 2 test items [for vibration and mechanical impact of battery packs]

Refer to UL1642(abnormal charging), which requires the same content as kc62133:2019.

2.3 if the factory (manufacturer) can provide the UN38.3 test report of the battery and the UL1642 certificate of the battery cell and the test data (report), it can replace the three test results of kc62133:2019.

2.4 if the factory (manufacturer) cannot provide the UN38.3 test report of the battery and the UL1642 certificate of the battery cell and the test data (report), it may also send samples to South Korea for three additional tests with the quantity of samples 6B+5C.

2.5 for KC application with CB transfer certificate, the CB application shall apply for Korean national deviation (KR_ND_IEC62133C).

2.6 the KC certificate of the old version of the standard does not need to be changed to the new version. The old version of the standard will be automatically upgraded to the new version before KC certification USES kc62133-2:20, 19. However, for lithium batteries used in mobile phones, tablets and laptops, the new version can only be updated after submitting UN38.3 and UL1642 files or supplementary tests.

2.7 a new application for KC certification shall provide a declaration document stating the use of the battery.

Warm prompt

Once the application meets one of the following four conditions, it can be regarded as meeting kc62133:2019:

1. CB contains the Korean national deviation;

2. Submit the battery pack sixth edition UN38.3 test report and cell UL1642 report;

3. Submit samples to Korea for testing;

4. Submit factory (manufacturer) test report (deviation test).
